Passed away on October 9, 2016 at Kootenay Lake Hospital. He was born on October 5, 1946.
John is survived by his loving wife Sharon, son Jarrod of Calgary and daughter Larissa of Vancouver.
John was well respected for his intelligence, always wanting a challenging conversation or reading about history and biographies. And be cautious, those who decided to play card games, particularly bridge or crib, as John had a natural instinct for winning at cards. Over the years John enjoyed international travel, and since retirement, he and Sharon spent the winter’s poolside in Arizona.
Those who had the privilege of knowing John will remember him as a very kind and compassionate man, with a good sense of humour characterized by his smile and chuckle. John’s train has departed for a more gentle station. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Red Cross Nelson office – 614 Front St, Nelson, BC V1L in John’s name would be appreciated. A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2017.
