May 9, 1924 - November 30, 2022
In loving memory ~
June Isabel Crichton (nee Mullan) passed in her sleep on November 30, 2022 at 98, with her five daughters surrounding her with love, and everyone else from afar.
She was born on May 9, 1924 in Hudson, Quebec, to Harold and Myrtle Mullan. She had one younger brother, Robert (Bob) Mullan, who predeceased her.
Before World War Two, June met Donald Crichton. They were married on September 15, 1945 when Don returned from his time in the air force. During the next fifteen years, June and Don brought their five daughters into the world. June was the incredible matriarch, she kept her family in line with love and grace and her quiet sass.
After retirement, June and Don sold their beloved family home in Point Claire, Quebec and moved west to Nelson, where three of their daughters had settled with their children. June quickly became involved in the community through church, book club, volunteering with the hospital auxiliary and various other community organizations.
In 2010, Don passed away at the age of 91. Following his death, June continued to live independently until December 2019 when she moved to Lake View Village at the ripe age of 95.
June was a kind soul. She never put anyone down or had a mean word to say about anyone. She was loved and appreciated by her family of course, but her impact has spiralled outward to touch many people in the community. She always said even the meanest, grouchiest person had good qualities, you just have to give them a chance.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Mckechnie, and June's nurses, Christine, Chiera, Yasmine, Karen and all the others, for their support in her final days. They assisted in making her comfortable and cared for until the very end.
She is survived by her five daughters: Gail (Stevie), Carolyn (Otis), Debbie (Dana [ex]), Cindy (Sal), Shelley (Norman), as well as twelve grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
The family would like to invite all who knew June to join us for the funeral, which will take place on Saturday, December 10th at 1:00pm at the Nelson United Church, followed by tea in the church hall. They are also planning a celebration of life for the spring.
