It is with great sadness that the family of Kathleen Heer, born in Nelson, BC on May 8, 1944, announce her peaceful passing, surrounded by her loved ones on June 19, 2016. Kathleen was a loving and amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Her eagerness to help others was second to none. She worked hard in everything she did. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to go above and beyond what was expected of them and never do less than their best. She made us laugh hard, smile often and loved us all until her dying breath. At the same time our sorrow is mixed with joy as she was going to be reunited with her beloved son, Darren, whom she missed to the core of her being. Kath was one of six children of the late Jim and Lil Sommerville. She leaves behind her husband of 51 years, best friend and love of her life, George. She is survived by her son Steve (Lynn), her treasured granddaughters: Jessica and Cydney; brother Harry (Janet); sisters: Shirley (Doug), Erma (Les), Pat (Bryan), Sandy (Greg) as well as too many relatives and close friends to count. Please know that she loved each and every one of you. We wish to thank so many people who have made her last year as comfortable as possible, including Dr. Malpass and staff, and nurses Kathryn and Katie who comforted and cared for our treasure in her last hours.
