We are saddened to announce the passing of our mother, Laura Hity, at the age of 85 years in North Vancouver, BC on February 12, 2018.
Laura was born at home in Thrums, BC and resided in the Kootenays until she relocated to New Westminster, BC in 1979. Laura was employed with the Province of BC until her retirement. Laura was an avid walker and could walk a marathon. She had a love of food and didn't hesitate to create new dishes while listening to her favorite tunes and singing along with them.
In her early years especially, she was a fashion icon having made her own apparel and always being avant garde with regards to the latest fashions. Laura was a lover of cruises and she travelled far and wide on various cruise lines.
Laura is survived by her daughter, Georgina (Georgie) and husband Brian, and Laura's son Marvin and wife Josie who unexpectedly passed Dec. 31, 2017, Josie and Laura were very fond of each other.
Laura is survived by two grandchildren, grandson Christopher Brown and wife Laura, granddaughter Sara Atkins, husband Stephen and great granddaughters, Charlie and Evan. Laura has two surviving sisters, Mary and husband Vince Macri and family and Laura's other sister, Eileen and deceased husband Dmytro Popadynec and family.
Laura was also survived by her Aunt Helen and family, cousins and many nieces and nephews as well as Suzy and Shane Furlong and their two daughters.
As per Laura's wishes, she was cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a date to be announced.
