June 26, 1941 - December 19, 2021
Lilian Lockhart passed away on December 19 2021 at Mountain Lakes Senior's Home. She had a fall and died after complications from a broken hip.
Lee was born in Prestonpans, Scotland on June 26, 1941. She was predeceased by her parents John & Maggie Cruichshank and her daughters Kirsty Lee Lockhart in 1983 in a car accident at Copper Mtn. and Tina Marguerite Lockhart from Stage 4 Cancer on July 16, 2021.
Lee has suffered through many tragedies in her life including the loss of her sisters Margaret and Sheila who was murdered in 1981 by her husband. Although suffering through all of these tragedies Lee has never complained about anything even after her 80 years of life.
Bruce and Lee were 9 days short of their 60th wedding anniversary and had their wedding in Timmins Ontario in minus 45 degree weather on December 28, 1961. Lee and her husband Bruce travelled extensively throughout Europe, USA and Canada in their VW Van while raising their first two children and had shared many wonderful adventures together. Lee has resided in many wonderful locations including Toronto, Ontario, Trail, BC, Prestonpans Scotland and then back to Vancouver before finally settling in Nelson BC in 1969 and lived here until her final days. Lee had her 3rd child Lesley April Lockhart (Stewart) in Vancouver and brought her home to Nelson when she was only nine days old.
Lee was a beautiful singer and a super cook, magnificent wife and mother. She was a fond lover of pets especially the most recent "Ginger" affectionately called "the little one". There have been many pets loved by the Lockhart family throughout the years. Lee loved to do pottery and crafts in her spare time which she shared with her daughters. Lee was stricken with Dementia in 2018 and her condition worsened by December 2021 when she was then placed into Mountain Lakes Senior Home. One month later Lee passed away after complications from a fall that broke her hip. Although stricken, Lee was the sweetest and the most gentle natured person with a large dose of sassy and a sense of humour that could reduce anyone into contagious laughter. Lee was partial to the Bethel Christian Centre as her chosen faith.
Left to mourn are her husband Bruce Lockhart, daugher Lesley Stewart (Ray) and her grandchildren.
Burton Stewart, Johnathan Stewart and Daniel Stewart. Visitation was held at Thompson Funeral Home on December 24 2021. She has since been cremated. Lilian and Tina will be interred at the Nelson Cemetery later in 2022 alongside her daughter Kirsty Lockhart.
Lee is deeply loved and missed by her husband and daughter and all that knew her.
"Rest in Peace, our little Lassie Lee" we will always carry you in our hearts.
Thank you to the Thompson Funeral Home for the beautiful set up of the viewing and all of the IHA home support staff, caregivers and nurses for your extremely kind care and treatments you provided for Lee in the comfort of her own home.
