Louise (Lou) was born in Melville, Sask., then moved with her family to Yorkton. As a young adult she moved to Nelson for a few years, then west on to Vancouver where she met and married Al Leverington who was in the navy. They lived many years in Barrie, Ontario then in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

They had two children, Sharon and Rick. Later, Lou moved to Nelson with her two young children. After some time met and married City Councillor Jack MacMillan.

Lou was predeceased by her husband Jack MacMillan, brothers Herb Miller, Vern Miller and daughter Sharon Kane. She is survived by son Rick Leverington, grandson Tim Kane, sisters Jane Macleod, Lynn Kyle and many nieces and nephews.

Lou was very talented, creative and energetic, accomplishing so many things. For several years she volunteered at the Nelson Cancer Society as well as sewing headpieces for cancer patients.

For a few years, Lou with her friend Marg Mason, dressed as clowns attending parades, charities and other community events.

Lou enjoyed the beauty of nature which was evident in her albums of pictures taken of her garden flowers, scenery, birds and wildlife that ventured onto her North Shore property. She enjoyed various hobbies, gardening, baking, crosswords, reading and curling in her early years.

She managed a dress shop for a number of years and with her sense of style organized many fashion shows for Beta Sigma Phi becoming a lifetime member. An extremely talented and creative seamstress, Lou designed and sewed all the costumes for Doris Merriman's dance recitals in Nelson.

Lou organized and convened many fashion shows with her collection of authentic heritage apparel dating back to 1865. Several shows for special events were held in Nelson as well as Kaslo on the Ansombe Paddlewheeler, Castlegar, Trail and Kettle Falls, WA. The majority of the clothing was given to her by long time residents in the Kootenay region. There was always a great story behind each article of clothing.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain Lake Senior Community, Dr. Woodward and staff at Kootenay Lake Hospital for their care and kindness.

There will be no funeral service as per her request.
