With sad hearts the family of Mabel Osachoff wishes to announce her passing from Dementia on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Talarico Place at the age of 90.
Mabel was born on April 8, 1929 to parents Nick and Dora Zaytsoff of Slocan Park, BC.
On November 27, 1947 Mabel married Fred W. Osachoff. They made their home in Vallican, BC. In 1991 they moved to South Slocan and later to Stellar Place in Castlegar.
Mabel loved decorating her home, cooking, sewing, crocheting, babysitting, gardening and her flowers! Her ultimate joy was caring for Fred and all her family. Mabel and Fred were very active in the community and loved singing in Choirs and sharing their heritage. Together, they directed the Slocan Valley Youth Choir and recorded an album of Christmas Carols and traditional songs.
Her beautiful smile and warm friendly hugs are now memories.
Left to mourn her loss are their 3 children Kathryn (Collin) Sherbinin, Jeannie Argatoff, Fred (Cheryl) Osachoff, 6 grandchildren: Chris (Tori) Sherbinin, Derek (Lisa) Sherbinin, Kelli Sherbinin (Darren Butler), Sherri (Gary) McPherson, Erin Argatoff (Kari Daniel) and Robert (Kayla) Argatoff, 11 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Riley, Liam and Lucas Sherbinin, Myla Jade Butler, Kate and Anya McPherson, Ella, Tiegan, Donovan and Grace Argatoff.
Mabel was predeceased by her loving husband Fred on July 11, 2016, sister Mary in 1960, mother Dora in 1970, father Nick in 2003, brother Peter in 2006, great grandson Nika in infancy and son-in-law Dave Wassick in 2014.
Funeral Services were officiated by Peter Zaystoff at the Brilliant Cultural Center on Thursday, June 6, 2019. Burial at the Slocan Park Cemetery was followed by a luncheon at the Slocan Park Hall.
Mabel's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Talarico Place and Dr. M.T. Van. Thank you to Bill Strilaeff, Jordan Wren and Renee Borho of the Castlegar Funeral Chapel. The Kootenay Men's Group for the beautiful casket. Thank you to John J. Verigin for your comforting words, Laura Verigin, the singers, Psalmists and all who sent messages, cards, food, attended, spoke entertained and helped. Thank you Peter and Liz Barisoff, Bob and Lorraine Podovelnikoff and the Slocan Park Ladies for the delicious meal. A very special thank you to Peter Zaytsoff for officiating the service, his expertise, dedication and unending support.
