April 10, 2010

MACKILLOP-MALCOLM (MAC) LACHLAN It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mac MacKillop, father, grandfather, and friend. Mac was born in Vancouver on October 6, 1917, where he grew up in a lively Scottish household with his parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. During WWII, he served in the Air Force where he was stationed overseas in charge of a squadron that repaired downed aircraft. When he returned home, he attended UBC where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree. In 1954, he married Beatrice (Bea) Fancourt and he was working as an Assessor for the BC Gov't. They moved a few times before settling in Nelson, where Mac lived for close to 45 years. During this time, in addition to raising their children, Bea and Mac were very involved in the Presbyterian Church. He finished his work career as a Realtor, and finally retired at age 80. As his health was declining in 2006, he moved to Delta, BC to an Assisted Living Facility.
