It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Aunt, Marjorie Eileen McNernie. Mom passed away suddenly in Kelowna B.C. On January 5th, 2011.

Mom was born in Lloydminster, SK in 1928. In 1965 she married Francis McDougall of South Slocan, where she spent many happy years as a homemaker, raising her young family.

Mom was a wonderful seamstress, and knitter, and the entire family has benefited from an outfit, toque, mitts, sweater or afghan made by her loving hands. She was also an avid gardener of both vegetables and flowers. She was active for many years in the Women’s Hospital Auxillary and also a volunteer at the IODE in Nelson. She was a dear friend to many, and we were all connected by the phone on a daily basis. Mom was always there to listen and help in any way, but rarely asked for help herself. She will be missed by us all.

She is survived by her dear friend Stuart Soles, her sons Richard (Donna) Roberts, Kerry Roberts, her daughter Kris (Pete) Landy, her step-children, Nettie (Don) Parker, Carol (Rick) McLean, Jim (Laverne) McDougall, sister; Joan (Ray) Hamilton, Lorna Hamilton, Brother Roger Kerby and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, her husbands; Francis McDougall and Leonard McNernie and her son Reg Roberts.

At Mom’s request there will be no service. A private family memorial will be held at a later date in Grand Forks, B.C. where Mom will be laid to rest with her late husband Francis.

A special thank-you to her dear friend Stuart, who made her last years so happy and to her granddaughter Janice for making her end of life so peaceful and loving. On line condolences may be expressed at www.thompsonfs.ca
