Margery Anne Pollard passed away peacefully on Monday, March 22, 2021 in Calgary Alberta, surrounded by her Son Joel Pollard and Grand Daughter Cassandra Pollard at the age of 87 years.
Marge was born in Nelson, BC on March 11, 1934 but lived in Procter, BC for most of her life. She married her true love, Derek Pollard on March 21, 1955 at the Procter Anglican Church.
Marge worked for the Bank of Montreal and lived in the nurses' residence in Nelson. Later on, she and Derek bought the family farm in Procter and also ran a successful business in Nelson for many years - Andex Rentals & Sales.
Marge and Derek were blessed with three sons, Mark, Shawn and Joel and also raised three young foster children, Dennis, Gary and Ricky.
Marge's children remember fondly when their mother would let them ride their donkeys and ponies 150 km from Silverton to Procter, a week-long journey. Every evening, Marge would locate them somewhere along the way and cook them a delicious dinner on the side of the road.
Marge loved the camping lifestyle, especially travelling in their converted greyhound bus. At Thanksgiving family gatherings, Marge would always cook a turkey in the little oven in the bus and everyone would enjoy a gourmet meal at the campsite.
Marge held a great love for dogs and welcomed Dobermans, Samoyeds and Newfoundlanders into her home. She was especially fond of her Rottweilers, Roxie and Megan.
Marge was very active throughout her life, teaching gymnastics, aquafit, line dancing, Zumba, and Pilates. Amazingly, she taught classes up until she was 82 years old.
Marge was known for her fire engine red hair and matching personality. Family and friends treasured her as many times she would take individuals under her wing. She was definitely a force to be reckoned with.
Marge will be deeply missed and cherished by her sons Mark (Jackie) of Balfour, Shawn (Kelly) of Whitehorse and Joel (Wanda) of Radium, grandchildren Sarah (Miguel), Cassandra (Stan), Spencer, Ariel (Colin), Jory (Matthew), Jordan, Brendan, Mack, Amy and Katelyn, cousin June Price and many dear friends.
Marge was predeceased by her beloved husband, Derek Pollard; mother, Mary Helen Quinn; father, Arthur Major; stepmother, Kathleen Major; Uncle Colin Major and granddaughter, Rebecca.
