Marion Ada Sears died suddenly, but peacefully, at home on Thursday March 10, 2011. Marion was born April 22, 1923 in Merritt, BC to James and Hetty Cummings. At the age of 2 the family moved to North Vancouver, where her father worked as a Supervisor for the North Vancouver District Waterworks. In 1939 she met Bob (Robert) Sears, through a mutual friend, where he worked as a Lighthouse Keeper at the Point Atkinson Lighthouse. Marion and Bob were married September 28th, 1940 and lived in North Vancouver where they raised four children. In 1951 Marion dedicated her life as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, remaining a zealous witness of Jehovah through to her death. In August 1980 they moved to Nelson, BC where Bob worked as an Engineer on the Kootenay Lake Ferries. Marion resumed her passion for gardening and continued preaching about God’s Kingdom.


Marion will be greatly missed by her three sons, Robert (Lynn) Sears, of Nelson, BC, Norm (Karen) Sears, of Nelson, BC, Steve (Helen) Sears, of Mara Lake, BC and her daughter, Laureen (Ken) Lawrence of Nelson, BC.


She will also be missed by 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. Marion was predeceased by Bob, her loving husband of 50 years, in October 1990 and granddaughter Lisa in 1983.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19th, 2011 at 2PM, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5646 Longbeach Road, Balfour, BC. All are welcome.
