In Loving Memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing our beloved soulmate, sister, aunt, cousin and great aunt Marlene Ann Derhousoff.
Marlene was the eldest child of three born to John & Katie Derhousoff on March 3, 1957, in the old Nelson Hospital. She was raised in Blewett with her siblings in the family home. Marlene grew up with many childhood friends going to Blewett Elementary then Trafalgar and LVR, where she graduated in 1975. She made many close friends that she kept to her last days. After graduation she worked for the government as a secretary then later became a medical secretary for IHA for close to 40 years.
Marlene had a green thumb, she loved gardening and especially flowers. I'm sure everyone here was a recipient of a lovely bouquet from her at one time or another. She loved foraging in the woods picking mushrooms, Solomon's Seal (Suzuki) and Huckleberries.
Marlene loved her family and spent a lot of time watching her nephews grow up. She particularly enjoyed watching them participate in ballgames. This continued on to watching her grandnephews play as well.
Marlene loved to get together with family and friends as a host or guest. She lived a full life, loved the Kootenays and did not desire to go anywhere else.
Marlene was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Nick and Mary Derhousoff, her maternal grandparents Ed and Helen Antifaeff, her parents John and Katie Derhousoff, and her brother John Derhousoff.
Marlene is survived by her husband Ed Argatoff, her sister Joyce (Dan) Tucker of Deer Park, Washington, nephews Jason (Patty) Nazaroff and their sons Mason and Carter, nephew Mark (Jessica) Nazaroff and nephew Kevin (Samantha) Nazaroff and their children Claire and Austin, as well as many cousins and their families.
Over a year ago Marlene was diagnosed with an inoperative Glioma Brain Tumor. On June 29, 2024 at Talarico Place, she passed away peacefully with Ed by her side. May God accept her into his Heavenly Kingdom.
In closing we wish to thank Dr. Margaret MacIntyre, Dr. Lisa Vasil and the caring staff at Talarico Place. A private family service was held on July 5, 2024, and Marlene was laid to rest at Shoreacres Cemetery.
