Marven was born on April 24, 1933 in Cranbrook, BC and passed away on June 19, 2020 in Trail, BC after suffering a stroke.
Marven is survived by his wife Irma, daughter Sari Dettling (Carl) and sons Brett Pedersen and Jeff Pedersen (Jennifer) plus 6 grandchildren Evan (Christine), Noah, David, Shane, Colleen (Rylie) and Lauren.
Marven spent 38 years in the airline industry starting as a mechanic at Canadian Pacific Airlines and rising to Manager of Maintenance Operations for Canadian Airlines.
All through his life he was an active volunteer in organizations such as Cub Scouts, Air Cadets, the Anglican Church, Kiwanis Club, Nelson Tram Society, Balfour Seniors Center and the Balfour Cemetery. He was driving force behind the restoration of the St Michaels Anglican church in Balfour and the restoration of the MV Anscome wheelhouse which is on display at the Balfour ferry terminal. He received several volunteer awards including recently the Rick Hansen Community Leader medal. He would help out anyone who needed a hand.
He was an avid fisherman throughout his life then discovered golf after he retired and fishing took somewhat of a back seat. He loved his golf. He also loved his garden. His tomatoes will be missed.
He was a generous and kind hearted person with an easy going personality. He always showed his family how much he loved them. His love for Irma was without equal and his dedication to her impressive throughout their 67 years of marriage and especially over the last few years. Not only will he be missed by his family and friends but the community at large was better place with him there.
At this time there will not be a service but we hope to have a celebration of life in the near future when able to do so.
