June 14, 1930 - January 23, 2021
On January 23, 2021 Mary Flegel passed away peacefully at Talarico Place in Castlegar, B.C. Her daughter Pearl was with her when she passed. Mary was born in Shoreacres on June 14, 1930 to John and Mary Malakoff, she was the youngest of five children.
Mary grew up in Hills. She left school after grade six, to help out on the farm. She started at the age 21 working in Sandon as a cook, this was where she met Frank, her future husband.
In 1952, Frank and Mary were married and moved to Longbeach, and had five children, Clarence, Ken, Blanche, Pearl and Ron. She worked for 35 years as a care aid at Willowhaven and Mount St. Francis. Frank passed away in 2013 and Clarence in 2018.
There will be a celebration of life at her house in Longbeach on her birthday in June of 2022 when it safe to do so.
