Milada Marie "Ananda" Prokopova

December 28, 1933 - October 29, 2018
Beloved to many in our community, Milada Marie (Ananda) Prokopova passed away peacefully on Monday October 29, at Poplar Ridge, Trail. She was 84 years old.
Milada (Ananda) was predeceased by her ex-husband Milan Jandera. Milan and Milada always truly supported one another throughout their lives. She is survived by their daughter Olga Jandera, (Brad Raine), and son Thomas Jandera.
Milada (Ananda) was born in Czechoslovakia. She studied music at the Music Conservatory of Prague. Milada, Milan and their children escaped communist rule in Czechoslovakia and travelled first to Iceland and eventually to Canada. She taught music to children, always insisting that the parents had to practice also, and that exams and competitions were never part of the learning of music. She made learning music fun.
Milada lived in Kaslo before traveling to Australia and New Zealand where she was welcomed by the Maori people as an elder. Milada returned to Nelson 20 years ago.
Over many years, Milada was trained in many disciplines including Reflexology, Bio Energetics, Shiatsu, Healing through Sound, Brain Gym, and Rainbow Flower Essences. Always a student, she generously shared herself as a teacher, a mentor and a friend. With her light-hearted appreciation of life, she had a way of bringing inspiration, laughter and joy to those around her. In 2009, she and Margaret Ryan published her biography, Divine Jokes and Other Invisible Realities.
There will be a Celebration of Milada (Ananda's) Life on Saturday Nov. 10 at the North Shore Hall, Nelson, 675 Whitmore Road from 2 pm to 5 pm. Potluck finger food and cookies are welcome.
