In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Miriam was born in Pincher Creek, Alberta, and moved to Wynndel, BC, at a very young age where she was raised and attended school. After graduation, she moved to Nelson BC, where she trained as an x-ray technician, and worked for many years at Kootenay Lake Hospital.
She met her husband Don, the love of her life and constant companion. They were inseparable during their 50-plus years of marriage. Together they raised 3 boys.
The family was always important. They spent many weekends and summer holidays on road trips visiting family and friends and although she wasn't the best swimmer, she liked time by the water.
She loved to travel, which included trips to England, Germany, Paris, Mexico, and Hawaii, as well as spending a few winters in Palm Springs.
Miriam loved to play cards, scrabble, and board games. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Throughout her entire life, she endured many physical challenges with her health and required several surgeries. She always persevered without complaint, with a sense of humour and maintained her independence.
Miriam is predeceased by her parents, Wendel & Hilaria Leins, son Darryl, husband Don, brothers Mark and Len, sister Marcella, and grandson Brad.
She is survived by her sons Dean, and Bill (Dallas), brothers Joe (Penny) & Bernie (Margaret), and sister Ann (Earl), as well as 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Kirsten, the nursing staff, and the home support workers that helped us in the last few months. They all truly made such a huge difference for us.
A celebration of her life will be held in the spring. An announcement will be made at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to cancer research or a charity of your choice.
