Neil Gardner Gavin

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father and friend, Neil Gavin on April 11th, 2017 at Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson, BC.

Neil Gardner Gavin was born on February 17th, 1933 in Kamloops, BC to parents Pearl and Samual Gavin. Neil was the eldest of four children.

Neil was a life-long legion member of Branch 51 in Nelson and served as President at Branch 217 in Salmo for over a decade. Neil enjoyed spending time with the youth in our community, assisting with the Sea Cadets for many years. Neil was a man of faith and served as Major with the Salvation Army.

Neil was quite an outdoorsman and enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, camping and riding his motorcycle on the windy highways that surround Nelson.

This February, Neil and the love of his life Fay celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Left behind to mourn his passing is wife Fay, beloved children Cindy and Jamie, siblings

Marshal Gavin, Del Mankie and nephew and best bud Lorne Swazye as well as numerous extended family and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, son Sam and two sisters, Vivian and Dot.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 27th from 1:00pm - 4:00pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 51, 402 Victoria Street, Nelson, BC.
