Nicolaas (Opa) Wetter of Nelson B.C. passed away at 93 on February 25, 2024
He was predeceased by his wife Thea, brother Bob, brother-in-law Eldon Sorbel, son Trevor, grandson Rusty, and great-grandchildren Amy and Joseph.
He is survived by his sister, Hella Sorbel, sister-in-law Arlene Wetter, 4 children, Annika Ashfield, Sonja Saquet (Paul), Bob (Mindy Walker), Roger Wetter (Bronwen Simpson). 11 grandchildren, Rennie & Sienna Ashfield, Gilbert Saquet (Erin Newman), Denis Saquet (Heather Wilson), Nicole Tereck (Jon) Robyn Jones (Colby Weinrauch), Jesse Wetter (Michaela Martin), Cody & Bobby Wetter. Sydney & Cameron Wetter. 9 great-grandchildren Madeleine Saquet, Sophie, Xavier & Oliver Saquet, Alida & Silas Tereck. Lily & Kingston Kemp. Rusty Wetter & his great friend Barb.
Nic loved spending time with family & friends. He was extremely proud of his family & loved sharing their accomplishments with others. He enjoyed playing cards, spending time in his garden, & making soup.
Thank you to Nelson Home Support and the third-floor staff at the Nelson Hospital for all the great care & support. You helped make a difficult time more bearable.
A celebration of Opa's life will be held at a later date. In place of flowers, friends & family may make a contribution to the Kootenay Lake Hospital Equipment Fund.
