September 29, 1939 - July 15, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Norman Leslie Wagner "Wag" announce his sudden passing at his home in Balfour, BC at the age of 81 years.
Norman was born September 29, 1939 in Trail, BC to parents Fred and Helen Wagner. He had a brother Gordon and sisters, Carol and Janis. He received his schooling in Trail and graduated in the rst grad class of J.L. Crowe High School. He attained an instrument mechanic ticket from Cominco and started to raise a family of 3 boys, Leslie, Mark and Grant. When the family split, Norman continued his education, getting a degree and teaching certi cation at UBC in Vancouver, later going on to earn his Masters in Education at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA.
Along the way, Norman met and married Reet Puusepp and they moved to Golden, BC where they build a wonderful log home, designed by Norman, on their acreage in the Blaeberry. Norman and Reet were both teachers at the Golden High School. Daughter Jill was born in 1976.
A man of many interests and experiences, in addition to farming and raising cattle (and St. Bernard dogs), Norm was a hell-ski guide. He took a year o teaching to develop the Kicking Horse Mountain Ski area. As a young man, he spent summers as a park warden on horseback and a forest re ghter. Norm loved to ski, golf, hike, ATV, snowmobile and was a glider pilot. He also enjoyed hunting trips with his sons and grandsons. Norm was a member of the Gyros for several years.
In later years, Norman and Reet moved to Balfour, BC. After Reet's passing, Norman met Sylvia Berry. They enjoyed many years at their beautiful lake house where they welcomed family and their many friends. Norman was larger than life, a generous, strong loving family man with many interesting and funny stories to share. Sitting next to him at the dinner table could be tricky when telling a story with his hands ying.
Norman leaves behind his wife Sylvia; his sons: Les (Kelly), Mark (Frieda), Grant (Kristie) and his daughter Jill; his beloved grandchildren: Nicole, Calt, Ross, Sarina, Evan, Brayden, Jordyn, Norman and 2 great grandchildren; his sisters: Carol (Cli ) and Janis, and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and their children. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Gordon and by Reet.
Norm, we will all miss you dearly and "Hello That There Place" will be an echo whenever we answer the phone. We will keep on telling your stories and, as you told your granddaughter on her birthday last week, we will have a glass of wine for you.
In lieu of owers, remembrance may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
