August 10, 1926 - November 3, 2021
Peggy was born in Nelson to John (Captain Jack) and Catherine Macleod and grew up in Proctor. After finishing her schooling she attended Nelson Business College. She worked for Charlie Morris Men's Clothing Store, Niagara Finance, Industrial Acceptance and the BC Forest Service. On May 4, 1951 she married Eric Denny and they lived in Willow Point in the house they built together. She often helped Eric with his danger tree falling business. Peggy was an avid rock collector and loved to make, then give away jewellery and polished stones. She was always collecting rocks when her and Eric would go prospecting, which was every opportunity. They loved being in the hills hiking and prospecting until health determined that they could no longer do it. Whenever anyone was writing a book or studying the history of sternwheelers in the Kootenays or the Kootenay Lake Ferry, she was consulted as her family was very involved in the business. She spent the last nine years in Summerland, continuing to collect rocks.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents John and Catherine MacLeod, her husband Eric, her brother Ian MacLeod and son-in-law Blair Donaldson. She is survived by daughter Heather Donaldson, son Jack Denny (Linda) grandchildren Murray (Dianna and children), Rhonda, Bob (Marissa) and Brandy. Great-grandchildren are Julia (Blaine), Ethan, Felicia, Brayden, Tyler, Trystin and Alexander. There is a large extended family as well.
The family would like to thank Dr Elizabeth Allen and the staff at Doctor Andrew Pavillion in Summerland, where Peggy spent the last seven months.
Peggy has been cremated. At this time there will be no service now, but a memorial will be held at a later date.
