In Loving Memory ~
Peter (Pierre) Adam died peacefully in Sudbury on February 8th, 2023, surrounded with love, at the age of 77.
The son of the late Paul and Mary (Canapini) Adam, Pete leaves behind to mourn his beloved son Christopher, his daughter-in-law Mona, and his two grandsons, Arthur and Vincent, all of Copenhagen, Denmark as well as Christopher's mother Sue Adam, of Nelson, BC.
His sweetheart Margaret "Peggy" Damboise will miss him dearly, as will her daughters Jamie Damboise and Robin O'Bonsawin (Claude) and their daughters Kalina and Hannah. Someone will need to carry on the tradition of drilling the girls on geography.
Pierrot leaves a huge gap in the hearts and lives of his siblings Paul (Jo-Anne) of St-Charles, Ontario, Andy (Marcia) of Nelson, BC and Emy-Anne (Denis) of Sudbury.
Everyone is confident that the love of skiing, the Blue Jays, good food and good wine, prosciutto, and travelling that he shared with his many nephews and nieces will ensure that his memory will live on indefinitely.
Whether you knew him as Pete or Peter, Pierrot or Tootie, you knew one thing: as someone said recently, "he never brought bad news". His was a life filled with love, laughter, and friends. His generosity knew no bounds.
He spent several years in Europe as "a ski bum" - his words, not ours. The close-knit circle of friends from there found their way to Nelson, British Columbia, where Pete ran the Whitewater Ski resort for several years, combining his passion for skiing with his love of hosting.
He eventually returned to Sudbury, working for Canada Post. He was well known by customers at the downtown post office because of his smile and his larger-than-life personality; it gave Pierrot great pleasure to be able to serve customers in French, and occasionally get to pull out some of his Italian, especially if he got to turn on the charm along with it.
Pete cared for his mother for several years, while always letting her think she was caring for him. They argued like an old married couple, and it brought out the best of both of them; she lived to be 96 in large part because of his care and companionship.
There will be a small private family service; he will be laid to rest in Sudbury, with his parents. In the Spring, after ski season, there will be a celebration of life because that's fitting; Pete would not want us to be sad. Let us remember the great times we shared. In lieu of flowers, you're invited to gather, wherever you are, with friends or family, to share a glass of wine, a bit to eat, to laugh and share stories...and if you can, give a yodel!
