Peter Steven Peto, formerly from Vernon, BC passed away suddenly at his home in Bonnington, BC on Wednesday, February 15th, 2017 aged 70. He was predeceased by his parents, Theresa and Steven Peto and by his wife, Judy Gurney. Peter is survived by his partner, Linda Mahoney and family: Jason Weir of Medicine Hat, AB, Carsen Weir (Shauna Robertson) of Nelson, BC, Tyler Weir (Michelle Spani) of Victoria, BC and granddaughters, Maia and Morgan Robertson-Weir.
Peter was passionate about winter and summer sports, especially downhill skiing, hiking and kayaking and he had a love beyond compare for animals, above all for Kayla, his beloved Golden Retriever. Classical music, history, geopolitics, chess and gardening were also passions. Education was highly valued and he worked in various capacities as a geologist after receiving his Ph.D at the U of Manchester, 1975.
Thanks to the Thompson Funeral Service for the help in arranging Peter’s cremation. Peter’s life will be celebrated and honoured in a private gathering. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
