Raffaella 'Lina' Gariup 1933 - 2018
With immense sadness we announce the passing of our wonderful, extraordinary wife, mother and Nonna Raffaella 'Lina' Gariup. She passed away peacefully on April 14, 2018 with family by her side.
Lina is survived by her husband of 64 years Antonio, daughters Darlene (Mario) and Giovanna, grandchildren Jessica, Roberto, Olivia, John and Antonia. Lina will also be greatly missed by her sisters Maria of Italy, Anita (Joe) of Edmonton, brother Tony (Teresa) of Trail, sister in law Erminia DeVuono. Numerous nieces and nephews will sorely miss their exuberant Zia. "Granddogs" Oakley and Mac will also miss their friend.
Lina was a terrific cook and baker who generously shared her delicious results with family, friends and acquaintances. She was a very active member of CWL and the Nelson Italian Society.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate, 813 Ward St, with Father Neil Lustado officiating. As an expression of sympathy donations in Lina's honour may be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation, 3162 Bedford Rd, Nelson, BC V1L 6X8.
