Richard Foster Wayling of Kimberley, B.C. passed away peacefully at Foothills Hospital surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Richard is survived by his parents, Terry and Dorothy Wayling, wife Robyn, sister Jennifer, brother David, two special stepsons, Owen Kendal (Carissa Carbonneau) and Evan Kendal (Fawn Rodgers) as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Richard was born and raised in Nelson, B.C. He graduated from high school and pursued his Education at the University of Victoria where he attained his teaching degree. In 1994 Richard moved to Kimberley and began his teaching career at Selkirk Secondary. He left teaching after 5 years to begin a new career working in real estate sales and development.

Richard was a hard working individual that always gave 110% to everything he chose to be involved with. He was known for his honesty and integrity and connection with each individual he encountered.

Richard had a love of sports from a very young age and one of his biggest passions was coaching as he saw the potential in every athlete. He will be fondly remembered by many youth in the community for all the hours he spent coaching and being in his second natural environment, “the gymnasium.”

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn his passing and our one wish for all that knew him, is to always remember his quick smile and distinctive laugh and all that he gave, including his organs for transplant.

There will be a celebration of Richard’s life on Saturday, June 11, at McKim Middle School Theatre beginning at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the East Kootenay Club Volleyball Association, B.C. Epilepsy Society, or MS Society would be desirable.
