May 14, 1942 - September 20, 2024
In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts we announce that Lawrie Tees passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Lawrie was born in Ottawa, Ontario on May 14,1942 to Fraser and Irene Tees. He lived the majority of his life in Nelson, B.C. He was employed by Kootenay Forest Products (22 years), Slocan Forest Products (10 years), Granite Pointe Golf Course and then finally managing a bookkeeping business out of his home.
According to Lawrie, the moments closest to his heart were his marriage to Charlyne, sharing 45 wonderful years creating a life filled with love, the birth of his daughters Kristal and Tracy, and the welcoming of his grandchildren.
Besides spending time with family and friends, Lawrie had a passion for golfing (Slapshot), playing cards, watching all of his sports, and going to the casino. As a man with very few words, he always managed to bring laughter to every conversation with his razor sharp wit, his snappy one-liners and of course his jokes. He also wrote beautiful, sentimental poetry celebrating special events in his life.
He was predeceased by his parents Fraser and Irene Tees, in-laws Gladys and Ben Frocklage and son-in-law Tyler Leavitt.
Lawrie is survived by all those he loved and who loved him: his wife Charlyne, daughters Kristal Tees and Tracy Tees (Jeff Dove), son Todd Tees, grandchildren; Ruby, Emmett, and Lennox Leavitt, and Blake Dove, brothers; Tony Tees and David Tees (Kelly Bleau), brother-in-law Wayne Frocklage (Barb), nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends.
An expression of gratitude goes out to all those that supported Lawrie in his last couple of years, and especially the staff at KBRH who showed compassion and support to Lawrie through his final 2 weeks. We miss him dearly but hold our memories and love for him close to our hearts. As Lawrie wished, a Celebration of Life was held privately following his passing.
Andreas Schmitz of Clark`s Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.
