Aug 2, 1936 - May 17, 2018
It is with sad hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Sonny Harper on May 17, 2018 at the age of 81 after a short stay at Rosewood Village in Trail.

Bob was born in Prince Albert Saskatchewan on August 2, 1936 to Robert and Ebba Harper. He moved to Nelson in 1958 where he met Mildred Crissall. They married February 28, 1959 and had 2 children, Barry and Shelley.

He was employed for several years as a salesman in the Nelson area with his favorite job at Kootenay Sleds & Wheels (now Mainjet) where he was well known as "Harp" to all. He was an avid snowmobiler and a member of the Nelson Snow

Goers since 1970 and became an honorary member January 2018. Snowmobiling was his great love and he always spent his winter weekends exploring the Kootenay backcountry with friends and fellow enthusiasts on yet another snowmobile adventure. Meadow Mountain was his favourite area to explore.

Bob was also known for being the neighbourhood handyman, always making time to fix lawnmowers, weed trimmers, etc. People will remember him for his witty comments and sense of humor; he always made you chuckle. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

He was predeceased by his sister Louella and his parents, Robert and Ebba. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Millie of 59 years, daughter Rhonda (Kim) and family of Surrey, son Barry (Tina) of Burnaby and daughter, Shelley of Nelson and grandchildren Alan (Krista) Dosenberger, Kevin Dosenberger, Marlana Harper and several cousins.

The family would like to extend special thanks to those that were there for Bob: Nelson - Dr. Lee MacKay, Mountain Lake staff, Trail - Rosewood Village staff with a special thank you to Laura.

Arrangements made by Thompson Funeral Services. Cremation has taken place and as per Bob's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A special thanks to Quinn Edwards, Director of Thompson Funeral Services for his assistance during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation, 3 View Street, Nelson BC V1L 2V1, or a charity of choice.
