It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Roy Laird at the age of 77 years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Laird and his children, Vicky West, Bonnie Johnson and Rick Laird. He will also be remembered by his 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren who will forever keep him in their hearts as well as countless other family members and friends.
He served on the Calgary City Police Force and later, owned and operated R Laird Trucking. After his retirement in 1993 he enjoyed riding his Harley, his ATV and fishing countless hours on Kootenay Lake.
A private family service will be held on Friday, Feb 25, followed by interment at Nelson Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Sat, Feb 26th at 3:00 pm at the Balfour Covenant Church, 7741 Upper Balfour Road, Balfour B.C.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation.
