It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Sandra Dukart at Kelowna Hospice House on August 17, 2011 with her family by her side.
Sandra was born March 14, 1942 in Delaraine, Manitoba. She leaves behind her partner of 20 years, Larry Pryor of Kaslo, daughters Linda (Mike) Makasoff of Sault St. Marie ON, Laura Siminoff of Vancouver, and Lee-Anne Lees (David) of Nelson, grandchildren Mitchell (Melanie) Makasoff of Sudbury, ON, Tyler & Lindsey Makasoff of Sault St. Marie, ON, Curtis (Christina) Siminoff of Castlegar, Ashley (Nathan) Heddle of Castlegar, Cody & Nikki Lees of Nelson, sisters Floria (Ed) Grill of Nelson, and Lorraine Kelly of Nelson, brothers Frank (Maggie) of Nelson, and Henry (Lisa) of Jaffery, great grandchildren Carter & Cohen Makasoff of Sudbury, ON & Alexa Siminoff of Castlegar, plus several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Alexandria, and father, Anthony Dukart, brothers, Ken and William Dukart, and most recently her sister, Carol Kelly Kohout.
She will be fondly remembered for her generosity in helping others and her skillful talent for sewing and crafts which she loved to donate to several charities in Nelson. We cannot forget about her special love for her canine companion, Sassy. Sandra was admired by many and loved by all, she will be missed sadly but not forgotten as she will always be in our hearts. She has gone on to a new journey of her life.
Services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 1:30pm at the Catholic Church followed by a graveside burial. In lieu of flowers, at Sandra’s request, donations can be made in memory of Sandra to the Central Okanagan Hospice House, 2035 Ethel Street, Kelowna, BC V1L 2Z6 or to our LOCAL Hospice Support Group in Nelson, BC.
Sincere thanks to the staff and physicians of Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson and Kelowna General Hospital. A special thanks to the attending physician, nursing and volunteer staff at Hospice House in Kelowna. Much love and support was expressed in these facilities. Our family thanks everyone for their help.
