On Monday, April 4, 2016 Shirley Ellen Kaarina Chanton of Procter B. C. passed away at age of 87 years. She was born in Copper Cliff Ontario on November 29, 1928.
After graduating from the University of Toronto in 1949, Shirley lived and worked in Toronto. In 1958 she secured a position with an engineering firm to work on a Canadian hydroelectric aide project in Pakistan. There she met Armand Viktor Chanton (Vic) and they were married in Basel, Switzerland on April 18, 1961. The couple moved back to Canada and eventually settled in Procter, BC in 1967.
Shirley enjoyed classical music, playing the piano, art, and reading.
Shirley is survived by her children Daniel of Victoria, BC and Marie (Morgan) of Procter BC, and her grandchild Nicholas of Procter BC.
A celebration of life will be held in Procter on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 2 pm at the Procter Harrop Seniors Centre. As an expression of sympathy friends may make donations to the Procter Harrop Seniors Centre, Box 72, Procter, BC, V0G 1V0.
