November 4, 1932 - February 24, 2020
It is with profound sadness as well as a solemn sense of relief that we announce the passing of Shirley Helen Price (nee Hoffman) at Nelson Jubilee Manor on Monday February 24 2020.
Shirley was 87.
Shirley was born in Regina Saskatchewan on November 4th 1932 to Carl and Rose Hoffman, the family moved to Toronto when
Shirley was a young age and there she attended St Josephs college school for girls. Shirley enjoyed figure skating and as a young lady often performed at Maple Leaf Gardens. At the age of 14 Shirley met the love of her life and future husband Frank, they were married in 1953 and went on to enjoy a 59 year marriage.
The family lived in Toronto, Calgary and St. Catharines Ontario before moving to Nelson in 1978 where Shirley and Frank owned and operated the Starlight Drive-In Theatre. Shirley also worked at McLaughlin jewelers and for a while as the sample lady at Woolco, Safeway and the liquor store.
Mom was a very loving and kind hearted woman, A devoted wife and mother. She always put family first. Mom had many interests but particularly enjoyed gardening, cooking and shopping. Mostly though mom loved being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, their joy and happiness lifted her spirits and brought out that infectious smile that we all knew and loved.
Shirley is survived by her children David, Diana (Jeff ) and Paul. Grandchildren Christopher (Carol), Brianna (Danny), Sara (Shane), Evan (Kimiko), and Ryan (Emma). Great grandchildren Emily and Presley. Predeceased by her husband Frank and parents Carl and Rose.
A private service and celebration of Shirley's life will take place later this spring.
Mom will forever live in our hearts and will be lovingly and fondly remembered by her family and many friends.
