Silvio Joseph Benedetti, age 85, passed away suddenly Friday, January 5, 2018 at Kootenay Lake Hospital.
Syl was born December 18, 1932 in Wynndel, BC to Steve and Marie Benedetti and lived there a short time before the family moved to Trail, BC. At the age of 10, the family moved to Nelson, BC where he eventually met the love of his life Barbara (Williams). They were married on December 29, 1956 and raised 3 children.
Syl worked for Imperial Optical as an optician until his retirement in 1992. Syl was an avid outdoorsman. "He played hockey, fastball, golf and curled and spent many trips with family hunting and fishing". He had many amusing stories to share everyday with the morning coffee crew and staff at Jubilee Manor.
Syl was a very devoted husband and is survived by his loving wife Barbara, son Brad (Linda), daughters Janet Hale (Dennis) and Vivian Benedetti, all of Nelson. Brothers Don (Nina) and Ray, grandchildren Dustin Hale, Clayton Muc, Amy Muc, Michael Hale and Gary Benedetti, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents Steve and Marie Benedetti, Brother Steve Benedetti and his wife Jacquie and his sister-in-law Edna Benedetti.
Syl met many friends over the years and will be missed.
There will be no service as per his request.
