At the Residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph on Sunday, January 30, 2011, Sister Margaret Winter (Sr. Mary Michael) in her 89th year and her 63rd year of religious life. Lovingly remembered by her sister Barbara Moerbeek of Goderich, Ontario; sister in law Mildred Winter, several nieces and nephews and the members of her religious community. Predeceased by her parents George Winter and Winifred Forsey formally of England and St. Thomas, Ontario; brothers George, William and Rev. Jack Winter. Sister spent 29 years as an educator at St. Joseph’s High School, St. Thomas and Catholic Central High School, London. Following this, she served a term on the Sisters of St. Joseph Leadership Team. After retiring from teaching, Sr. spent 10 years at the Catholic Marriage Tribunal in Nelson, B.C. From 1997-2007, Sr. was privileged to reside in Goderich, Ontario where she was a loving presence and visited residents of the neighbourhood and those living in nearby nursing homes.
All services for Sr. will be held at the Residence of the Sister’s of St. Joseph, 485 Windermere Rd, London. Visitors will be received on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 from 2-9 o’clock, with a wake service being held at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 11 o’clock.
Interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
