Stefanie Teresa Jablonksi (OKSZYNSKA) passed away on January 21, 2017 at the age of 92.

She was born in Taranopol, Poland on September 8, 1924 to Stanislaw and Rosalia Okszynski. In 1950, opportunities to relocate to Canada brought Stefanie to Timmins, Ontario and a year later the family moved out west to Salmo, BC to pursue mining opportunities.

Stefanie was active in her community and was involved with several organizations including the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #217, The Salmo Catholic Church, the Pythian Sisters Auxiliary and the Terry Fox Run. Stefanie loved working in her vegetable and flower garden and walking in and around Salmo.

She was a very generous person often sharing with her neighbours. She loved crocheting and knitting and often donated many of these items to local charities.

Stefanie was predeceased by her husband Zygmunt in 1994 and granddaughter Bobbi Jane in 2013. She is survived by her son Jim (Lynn), Daughter Rita (Charlie), grandchildren: Cynthia (Darryl), Cory (Marina) and Ryan. Great-grandchildren; Taylor, Ocean, Alexis and Olivia.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Stefanie’s honour to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #217, 303 4th st, Salmo BC, V0G1Z0. A celebration of Stefanie’s life will be held at a later date. Alexandra Butts of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.

A very special thank you to Dr. Dixon-Warren and the Interior health home support team who cared for Stefanie throughout the year.
