In loving memory ~
Sydney Carole Hall, aged 86, passed away on March 14th, 2023, at The Views extended care facility. The staff at The Views took incredible care of Sydney in her last three years and treated her as a second family. She was born on April 3rd, 1936, in Nelson, B.C., the daughter of Harry Swingler and Emily Cooper.
Sydney was a proud graduate of the University of British Columbia, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in home economics. She went on to become a teacher, working in several schools throughout B.C. and Alberta, and spent many years at Grand Trunk High School in Evansburg, Alberta.
Sydney was a loving mother to her two daughters, Jocelyn Bystrom and Sandra Saowapon. She was also a devoted grandmother to her five grandchildren: Matthew Saowapon, Keith Bystrom, Jean-Luc Saowapon, Kristen Bystrom, and Andrew Saowapon. Sydney will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sydney was very social and enjoyed participating in a variety of activities. She loved skating, and in later years enjoyed volunteering at church and with the Anglican Church Women's Society, playing cards with friends from bridge club, and attending exercise classes at D'Esterre House.
The funeral service for Sydney was held on March 23rd, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Comox, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the community outreach program at St. Peter's Church Comox.
Sydney will be forever remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and teacher. Sydney's life was a testament to her faith in Christ. Her memory will live on through those who loved her and through the lives she touched with her kindness and service.
Lovingly written by her granddaughter, Kristen Bystrom.
