Born October 7, 1917 in the Northwood, Manitoba area and passed away peacefully at Cottonwoods Care Centre in Kelowna, BC on April 28 at the age of 93.
Vi is survived by her children; Doris Orchard (Donald), Gail Harrison, Gordon Graves (Ellen), Sister; Alice Bustard (Reg) and Brothers; Fred Heddle (Audrey) and Ted Healey (Barb), Ten Grandchildren, Eleven Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild.
Vi was predeceased by her parents and husbands Wilfred Vivian Graves in 1950 and James Davis; Infant son Gordon and Brother’s, Gordon Palmer, Walter Palmer, William Heddle and sister Audrey Petersen and Son-in-law Ivan Harrison.
Her Father died when she was 4 years old and her mother then returned to England with Vi and brothers Gordon and Walter Palmer. The family returned to Canada and moved to the Nelson’s North Shore where her mother remarried and five more siblings were born to the family. Vi often spoke fondly of her childhood with her brothers, sisters and cousins at their home on Heddle Road.
She Married Viv in 1935 at the St Andrews by the Lake Church and moved to the Village of Fruitvale where their four children were born. Upon the sad passing of her young husband in 1950 she moved to Nelson and purchased a grocery store business on Davies Street to support her young family.
When her children were out on their own she married James Davis in 1963 and moved back to Fruitvale where she helped to raise his family.
Vi had a wonderful happy disposition and enjoyed golfing, painting, bridge, travel and her visits with family.
The family will have a gathering in Nelson to honor and celebrate Vi’s life at a date to be determined.
