After a happy and fulfilled life, Dr. Phil. Walter Beringer was summoned into eternal rest on March 23, 2016. Walter led his life guided by a sense of grateful duty toward his family and his career as professor of Greek and Latin antiquity. His life was loyalty and love, fuelled by the strength of inherited faith. Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary and his sister Gudrun (Karl Heinz), Walter leaves behind in mourning his son David (Valerie Sanderson) and daughter Alison (Rick Wright) and brothers Helmut (Gisela), Rolf (Elsa), Hermann (Irmgard), and Wolfram (Dorena), and an extensive family. Walter lived for 15 months at his son and daughter-in-law’s home and spent his last 2 months at Jubilee Manor. The family would like to thank all caregivers from Nelson Home Support and Jubilee Manor for their skilled and compassionate care of Walter.
Visitation: Monday April 4th 3:00pm – 4:30pm Thompson Funeral Home
Funeral Service: Tuesday April 5th at 11:00am in St. Saviour’s Anglican
As per Walter’s request there will be no eulogy but a light lunch reception will follow the interment and guests may share a memory of Walter at that time.
