November 8, 1941 - January 25, 2020
William (Bill) Woikin passed over Saturday, January 25, 2020 with Joan and Tricia at his side.
Bill's passion in life was entertaining. His guitar was often heard on Baker Street, or making music with his "Countrymen Band". His dream was to be the next Hank Williams, country music being his love.
Bill organized the Special Olympics Fundraiser Concerts in the Park with his late son Ryan. Ryan was his best friend and they could often be found playing snooker at the Legion, one year playing over 1000 games!
Bill volunteered in many local activities and especially enjoyed hosting his weekly radio program "Pure Country" on Kootenay Co Op Radio for twenty years.
Bill retired from 22 years of work on the Kootenay Lake Ferries, as well as working previous jobs in construction. In his younger years, Bill also worked a variety of jobs around the province which allowed him to indulge in his love of playing competitive softball.
Family was very important to Bill. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Joan, as well as daughter Tricia (with Dwayne) and his two favourite grandchildren, Jack and Lily, sister Mary (Doug) and family, sister in law Verna, Ken, Wanda and family as well as extended family. He was predeceased by his son and buddy, Ryan, brother John and his parents, John and Nellie.
A Celebration of Life is planned for the summer of 2020. If you choose, donations in Bill's memory would be appreciated to Special Olympics (https://specialolympics.ca/british-columbia/communities/nelson_)
