In Loving Memory ~~
William "Buck" Crawford passed away suddenly on January 6, 2023, at the age of 80. He had an infectious smile and laugh that could light up any room and the world will be a little bit duller without him. He was born in Alberton, PEI but moved to Heffley Creek, BC when he was 3.
He grew up there, having many adventures with his sisters and brother and making many lifelong friends.
At the age of 14, he started travelling to Kamloops where he started his junior hockey career, earning the nickname "the Rocket". He was a force to be reckoned with, even being named the very first MVP of the BCJHL league in 1962. Hockey with the Maple Leafs is what brought him to Nelson, BC but it was his friends and family that kept him here.
Here he met the love of his life, Fran, and they were married for 55 years. Buck had three kids, Shawn, Tammy and Shannon who loved him dearly.
Buck was never without a song in his heart and was often entertained by his guitar and his love of singing. He was ready to lend a helping hand to any of his friends who needed it.
Buck will be missed by his loving family, his many hockey and work friends, as well as those in Nelson who were his best buds.
He is survived by his wife Frances, children Shawn, Tammy (Ron), and Shannon (Dave), his grandkids Cole, Samantha and Zachary, his sisters Bev (Emil), and Brenda (Wally) and brothers Bruce (Teresa) and Hank (Sydney).
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Bernadine (Fred) and brother-in-law Jack (Noreen).
He is predeceased by his mother Ann, father Dave, his sisters Joan, Pam and Wendy and his brother David. He was also predeceased by his mother-in-law Mary, father-in-law Sam, and sisters-in-law Anne, Marie, Jo and Ida.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Nelson Kootenay Lake Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Thank you to all our family and friends who have supported and comforted us during this difficult time, as well as the members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 51. Thank you to the first responders and Dr. Sparrow. We would also like to thank Thompson Funeral Services for their kindness and support.
