William "Bill" Hart was born on October 29, 1936, in Barrie, Ontario and passed on Friday May 2, 2025, at the age of 88 from injuries incurred in a fall at home in Nelson BC.
In his early career, Bill completed several special training courses involving equipment servicing and maintenance management. By the age of 21, he had attained the position of Project Manager. Bill's successful career included working on many special projects considered milestones in the construction industry including the St. Lawrence Seaway and Welland Canal, and Hydro Dam Projects in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Labrador, British Columbia, Guatemala and India. His retirement years were filled with the joy of gardening, hunting, fishing in his boat named "Captain Compost" by his grandchildren, cruising, travel to 100 countries, watching sports, storytelling amongst family and friends, helping Sheila with her Rotary projects and attending the Learning in Retirement programs.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Sheila Hart, children James (Denise), Tracy (Len Salminen), Joe (Ronda); grandchildren Chris (Diane), Stephen, Rachel Hart and Kalei (Andrew) McClellan; great grandchildren Dallas and Poppy Hart, Phoenix, Leo and Coral McClellan and his siblings Brian (Faye) Hart and Joan (John) Banbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation. A gathering of family and friends will be held at his home on Saturday May 17 from 1-4 pm. A family gathering and burial service will be held on Monday July 28 at 1 pm at St. Thomas Cemetery in Shanty Bay, Ontario.
