William (Bill) George Kardos was born on a farm near Wakaw Saskatchewan on January 28, 1927, to Imre and Rosalia Kardos. He was the youngest of five children, Marie, Martin, Helena, and Elizabeth. When he was 11 the family, minus his father, moved to BC. They first settled near Wynndel, close to the Popovich farm where he met the future love of his life Anne. At 14 he dropped out of school to support himself. He spent time ranching near Calgary, mining at Sudbury, and logging near Creston before joining CPR for a 44 year career. In 1952 he married Anne Popovich.
He was active in the community and the church throughout his years and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who need help. His generosity and love extended beyond his family. Bill has no surviving siblings. His wife Anne predeceased him in 2000. Bill is survived by his children, Cheryl (Larry, Melanie, Kimberly), Kevin, Mark, Gail, Gwen (Harold, Aysza, Harrison), Allison (Randy, Taya, Aliyah), and Tamara (Warren, Bryce, Ethen).
