July 7, 1934 - February 3, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful man, Bill Lees, who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Bill was born in Vancouver, B.C. and spent most of his childhood in Trail and Kelowna before moving to Vancouver Island where he entered trade school in the Automobile Mechanics Program, which laid the foundation for a lifetime of passionate work in the automobile industry including owning the Volkswagen and Subaru dealerships in Nelson.
Bill was predeceased by his adoptive parents Gladys and Mortimer Lees, his biological mother Mercy Ann McColl, his brother Arthur and sister Helen, and in 2001 his first wife Jean.
Bill is survived by his wife Sharon, 3 biological siblings, his children Karen (Barry), Diane, Wendy (Don), Donna (Paddy), John, David (Lee-Anne), Brenda, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bill was a member of Kiwanis in Nelson and Trail serving for over 40 years including Lt. Governor and President of both clubs plus the Nelson Housing Society. His passion was driving! He was interested in all cars, especially Volkswagens, and also trains. He loved road trips, usually exploring the "less travelled" side roads.
Bill's Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 1:30 pm at the Nelson United Church with reception to follow at the church. Interment to be held at a later date.
