William John (Jack) Cowley died at his home in Slocan, BC after a brief illness and living an active life of 93 years.

Jack was born in Fort William, Ontario on July 30th, 1924. He grew up and ran a trap line for many years in the Peace River country of B.C. in the (Dirty 30's) at times subsiding only on hunted food including tree squirrels. Jack joined his parents,  brothers and sisters in the Slocan Valley in 1950, where he mined and logged with his brothers Clarance and Lloyd.

Jack  met  and  married  Barbara  Jean  Adams  on December 23rd, 1950. They had 6 children.

Settling in a newly built home at Lemon Creek Hill for the rest of their lives. He worked for the Chaka-Mika logging team for many years retiring in 1984. Jack's life was filled with elk and deer hunting trips and fishing every chance he got.

Jack was an avid gardener growing and canning vegetables and fruit for winter consumption. He loved huckleberry and mushroom picking, playing Crib with anyone who stopped by to visit, and endless hours of storytelling and jokes.

Jack was predeceased by daughter Diane, son Bernard and wife Jean. Jack is survived by 2 daughters, 2 sons, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by his surviving family and friends.
