The family of Woo Ping Tam Wong is saddened to announce her sudden passing on January 20, 2019 at her home in Richmond, BC. Our dear mother and grandmother was the central pillar of strength and love in the family. We draw upon that strength and determination she instilled in us during this difficult time. We take comfort in knowing that she is reuniting with her beloved husband Morris Kwok Yuen Wong.
Tam, as she was affectionately known by her friends, neighbours, and work colleagues, arrived in Nelson, BC in 1972 from the Philippines. Together with her husband, our father, she set out to make a better life for her children in Canada.
Even with the death of our father, she never lost sight of their goal. Through love, dedication, and self sacrifice, she raised four children and set them on the right path. Tam left Nelson in 2013 to be closer to her children and grandchildren on the coast but she always considered Nelson to be home. She will be greatly missed but not forgotten by her loving family and friends.
