February 3, 1960 - December 4, 2023

In Loving Memory ~

Yvonne Chapman, a loving wife and mother, passed away December 4, 2023, with loved ones by her side, after a very short battle with stomach cancer.

Born on February 3, 1960, in Nelson, BC, to Jim and Betty (Elisabeth) Huiberts, Yvonne was the third oldest of five sisters and one brother.

Growing up on the family farm in Sunshine Bay laid the foundation for Yvonne's sense of strong family values and hard work and was where she established lifelong friendships that transcended time and distance.

After graduating from LV Rogers in 1978, Yvonne's adventurous nature brought her to Edmonton before returning home to Nelson, where she met her husband, Drew Chapman, through mutual friends.

In 1990, a new adventure was on the horizon. Yvonne and Drew journeyed to Vancouver Island with their three children, Corey, Jaclyn and Curtis—settling in Lantzville—where they raised their family and built a community of friends.

In 1993, Yvonne started a long and successful career in the Insurance industry. Beginning as a client service representative, Yvonne's dedication to hard work, empowering others, and desire for new challenges propelled her into multiple branch management positions before becoming a Regional Manager for Coastal Community Insurance. Yvonne's dedication to work, colleagues, and friends, as well as her ever-accepting heart, sense of humour, and palpable pride in those whose lives touched hers, will be greatly missed.

Yvonne is survived by her loving family: husband, Drew; her children, Corey, Jaclyn (Michael) and Curtis (Caitie); grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, Cashous, and Presley; and siblings, Joan Huiberts, Audrey Martin, Mim Huiberts and Dan Huiberts.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Betty and her sister, Karen.

The family would like to thank the Nanaimo Regional Hospital Palliative Staff and Nanaimo Hospice Volunteers for their kindness and constant care, ensuring Yvonne was comfortable and for the warmth and support extended to her family.

In place of flowers, the family asks that donations to your local Hospice or Palliative Care unit be made.

A memorial service to celebrate Yvonne's life will be held later, with plans for two memorial services, one in Nanaimo and a second in Nelson, BC.
