Property taxes keep going up, but not everybody is paying their share. Too many organizations that don’t meet the criteria for Permissive Tax Exemptions are not paying taxes.
Nelson taxpayers need to press city council and staff to review the applications for the PTE with a new, more secular lens than has previously been used. This will result in the PTE being allocated more equitably and more universally.
