Eagles on verge of extinction

Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 22 is comprised of a group of devoted ladies and men from the Nelson area.

Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 22 is comprised of a group of devoted ladies and men from the Nelson area. Each year we are able to raise money through monthly bingo games, borscht luncheons and craft fairs. The ladies cater to social events in the area and the kitchen and hall are rented out to various groups.

This year the Eagles returned in excess of $18,000 to local groups that serve the needs of people. However, as a member of the Eagles Lodge we see that there is a possibility of the age old Eagles Lodge crumbling because many of the members now vary in ages from 75 to 88 years of age. We have difficulty attracting newer members.

It would be a shame to see the demise of a cornerstone of the city that has served for many years as entertainment for seniors who enjoy playing bingo as a pastime.

A portion of their fees are actually returned to make the community a better place to live.

We really need to have people step forward and join the Eagles Lodge to volunteer their time and help ensure we do not lose a valuable tool  that raises funds annually to enrich the social structure within the city of Nelson.

For information contact the Eagles Lodge by phone at 250-352-5644 or any local member of the Eagles Lodge.
