HUGS: To the City paving crew. I had an opportunity to walk on the paved pathway from the mall to Lakeside Park today. What a treat. Thank you so much for improving the pathway.

HUGS: A big hug for to the young girl who took the time to remove two dead ducks from the Lakeside dog off-leash park. Several dogs were seen trying to eat what was left of them and you really saved the day! Thanks for not being afraid to get your hands dirty and keeping our city clean!

HUGS: To everyone who help others. This time it was me who was stranded one snowy evening trying to get back home to Rosemont. I sure appreciated the help. Community lives here!

SLUGS: To people who pick up their newspapers from the Nelson Star boxes but leave a mess of flyers behind for someone else to dispose of. *The Star’s editor co-signs this slug.*

HUGS: To the person who found my favourite hat and hung it on a branch beside the Mountain Station ski trail. I’d lost the hat on Dec. 27, and looked for it for several days without success. Then, surprise, surprise — three and a half weeks later — there it was on Jan. 20. It made my day!

HUGS: To the person who found my mail keys, with my wallet attached! I can’t thank you enough for bringing it to the NPD. I got it back. I did leave you a note at the mailbox but wanted to be 100 per cent sure that you knew how much I appreciate you!

HUGS: To all the people who stopped to help me when I got my vehicle stuck in the snow in front of Blaylock. Thank you all so much!

SLUGS: To those parading their ignorance by publicly protesting with profane language and defacing public statues. Your inconsiderate gesture is consistent with the message you are sending, which is: my misinformed “freedom” is more important than the good of the community.
