HUGS: Giant hugs to the lady who found my two Honda keys at the corner of Baker and Josephine and immediately took them to the police station. Your kindness saved me a huge amount of grief.
HUGS: Nelson's hanging flower baskets are outstanding! And so numerous, they just make every street spectacular. Thank you to the people who make our city so beautiful!
SLUGS: To the BC/DC concert organizers for inadequate planning and poor execution. Your inefficient and poorly communicated system of requiring people to line up for drink tickets and then stand in another line for drinks made alcohol the true focus of the event. At any given point, more than three-quarters of the attendees were queuing up for booze and facing away from the stage, all the while some clever individuals with lawn chairs and refreshments posted outside of the event fence. No wonder so many people left for the bars and restaurants – it took them less time to go out, have a drink and return than the hour-plus it took to clear the lineups at the show!
HUGS: To the woman who came to our aid when my friend was having a medical emergency. Your calm demeanour helped me keep it together so that I could be my best for her.
HUGS: To the Road Kings for such a successful anniversary show, but SLUGS to whomsoever has any control over the volume of the music. If 25 per cent of the somewhat older population at the show had hearing loss before, it is likely to be significantly increased by listening to a level where conversation about vehicles was almost impossible. The show is primarily about viewing interesting machines and discussing them, not primarily an outdoor concert, even though the music was excellent quality.
HUGS: Giant hugs to the Nelson Police who remained calm and professional in the face of extreme verbal abuse from an angry, unreasonable and intoxicated person. You treated them with dignity and respect throughout and it didn't go unnoticed. Thank you for your humanity in difficult times. I am forever grateful.
