HUGS AND SLUGS: Roll down your window, Jocko

Too many cool brothers out here with tinted windows
jocko
This looks like the kind of man who would have tinted windows on his car, which was a cool thing to do 20 years ago. Anyone else remember spinners?

HUGS: To Nelson council for supporting the Sue Big Oil campaign by contributing $1 per resident. That's money well spent in helping to start a B.C.-wide class action climate lawsuit against the fossil fuel polluters who've driven the climate crisis.

SLUGS: To Mayor Morrison for shooting down the application for a temporary cannabis lounge. You clutched your pearls, perpetuated stigma and denied a historic business opportunity, while allowing alcohol and other drugs all over this town.

HUGS: Thank you to whoever cleared away the pebbles from the BNR trail just past the bridge from Svoboda parking lot towards Mountain Station. A lot easier on the feet for humans and dogs.

HUGS: Big hugs to the SAR parents at the soccer field in Lakeside Park on April 26 when my attempt to kick a soccer ball toppled me on to the path. Also to the paramedics in a training group across the field — everyone was so kind and caring — and to the ambulance paramedics who were so super efficient. There are many kind people in Nelson!

HUGS: To the City of Nelson for cleaning out the scrub brush and trees along the dog walk between the boathouses and airport. You’ve created an airy, safe and beautiful walk along the lake. Good job!

SLUGS: To the dudes with tinted windows. Hey cool brothers, maybe you can see us, but we can't see you! Pedestrians and cyclists and other motorists need to make eye contact so we can be sure you see us. When you're in town, roll down your window Jocko; there's lots going on!

HUGS: To the city crews working overnight to repaint the crosswalks. You woke me up the other night but I could tell you were trying to be as quiet as possible. Thanks for all your hard work.

HUGS: To all of the Early Childhood Educators and centres in the area. May is Childcare Month so please show your appreciation to the ECEs in your life and organizations such as Kootenay Kids. Those of us who are privileged to have these folks help raise our children get to witness the care and expertise that ECEs provide. Our community couldn’t function without you!
