Who is this mystery donut maker and why did they not bring donuts to the newsroom? The Star investigates. (Pxfuel)

HUGS: To the Uphill donut maker! Your donuts brought the Uphill community together all summer long! We will miss your donuts and hope you bring them back one day!

SLUGS: To the person who careened around the corner at a high speed and crazy level of recklessness at Hoover and Hendryx on Oct. 1 at 15:20, you are extremely lucky that there was not a child in your way. You may not value your life or those of your passengers but please don't take an innocent bystander, bicyclist or another driver and potential passengers with you.

HUGS: To all the organizers and sponsors of the STOODIS Indigenous Film Fest. It was a lovely way to be entertained and learn over the weekend.

HUGS: Just want to commend all of the performers in Legally Blonde. I truly believe that this show was as good as some I saw on Broadway in New York City when I was a teen. What a wonderful engaging performance.

SLUGS: To City Council for considering building a five-storey building in a residential area. As a taxpayer I cannot believe that the city would consider leasing the property for a “nominal fee.” Where is the benefit to the taxpayers?

SLUGS: To the City of Nelson for leaving the wee willow tree just lying on the beach after the wind storm and not trying to save it.

HUGS: To all the people who worked the advanced voting at the Best Western here in town this past Sunday. You all made the process super easy in regards to coming out and voting, it was easy peasy. An extra hug to the man who helped my elderly mother out with the elevator. She was chuckling about the joke you told her the whole car ride home.
